Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics (WWL) this week released a series of metrics highlighting its environmental activities for the year 2010.  The metrics show a number improvements made through various company initiatives and policies including the use of low-sulphur fuel while at sea, and berth, and a focus on more fuel-efficient design and equipment for new buildings and retrofits.

Among the companies finding, WWL says they have managed to cut its CO2 emissions by 21% for the year, compared to 2009, as a result of improved utilization and reduced daily fuel consumption.  The company also reported that, for the 7th year in a row, they have kept the average sulphur content of bunker fuel below its goal of 1.5%.  WWL also says 6 vessels have been equipped with Ballast Water treatment systems ahead of pending regulations.
