SINGAPORE (Dow Jones)–The number of oil, gas and chemical tankers passing through the port of Singapore in May was up 1.7% from the previous month, but overall tonnage was 0.6% lower, the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore said on its website Monday.
The port handled a total of 1,892 tankers with a combined gross tonnage of 53.89 million tons last month, up from 1,860 vessels and a gross tonnage of 54.23 million in April, according to figures on the MPA’s website.
Of the tankers handled by the port last month, 1,346 were oil tankers, the same as in April, it said.
