Salvage Tug Reaches ‘Maersk Sana’ After More Than Two Weeks Adrift in Atlantic
Importers rushing to ship Chinese goods to the US using a short reprieve from paralyzing tariffs could provide a much-needed boost to global freighters.
A product tanker has reportedly been hijacked yesterday in position: 06:01.14N – 001:20.2E, correlating to Lome Anchorage, Togo.
The owners of the product tanker anchored off Lome, which has yet to be identified, received a phone call from the ship’s Master who appeared to be under duress.
According to an International Maritime Bureau Report, “The owners believe the vessel may have been hijacked. There are 24 crew members onboard and the vessel.”
Assistance from local authorities has been requested by the IMB Piracy Reporting Centre, no further word is yet available however.
