In the morning of 14 March, the EU NAVFOR French frigate F/S NIVÔSE provided assistance to the M/V Jahan Moni after she was released from pirate control.
The French warship provided fresh water, food and medical assistance to the crew after a request from the vessel’s owner was received.
The merchant vessel and the 26 Bangladeshi crew members had been pirated on 5 December 2010, in the Somali Basin, approximately 1300 nautical miles East of Eyl (Somalia).
