Vessel traffic on the Florida’s Intracoastal Waterway is restricted Wednesday after a span of a draw bridge closed onto a the deck of a luxury yacht near Miami.
The U.S. Coast Guard reports that a span of the Broad Causeway bridge connecting North Miami to the Bay Harbor Islands near Bal Harbor came into contact with the 161-foot yacht “Rockstar” as it was being towed by two tugboats Tuesday evening. Fifteen people were reported to be aboard the yacht with no injuries.
Photos of the incident show a span of the draw bridge clamped down onto the deck of the yacht.
The USCG says that as result of the incident, only the bridge’s west leaf is able to open. Restrictions are in place limiting the movement of large vessels with a height greater than 16 feet and 40 feet wide.
The yacht has since been moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
