Wallenius Wilhelmsen has inked a five-year agreement with a “leading manufacturer” of agriculture, forestry, and roadbuilding equipment. The deal, set to commence on December 1, 2024, is valued at approximately USD 766 million, based on projected volumes over the contract period.

The agreement goes beyond traditional shipping arrangements, incorporating a partnership on decarbonization. Under the terms, the customer has committed to funding the gradual introduction of green and renewable fuels, signaling a shared dedication to reducing the environmental impact of maritime logistics.

“Strengthening our long-term partnership with a key high and heavy customer, the agreement reflects the customer’s need to secure predictable long-term ocean capacity and commitment to decarbonizing their supply chain,” said Pia Synnerman, Chief Customer Officer at Wallenius Wilhelmsen.

The new contract builds upon an existing relationship between the two companies, expanding Wallenius Wilhelmsen’s role in the customer’s global supply chain.

“This renewed agreement complements the existing logistics and digital supply chain scope we currently provide them globally, including our integrated service offering, whereby we manage product and information flows along the entire outbound supply chain, from their factories to ports in destination regions,” said Synnerman.

Last month, classification society DNV awarded Wallenius Wilhelmsen its first biofuel insetting verification for using B100, a 100% biofuel, in a recent voyage.

Biofuel insetting allows shipping companies to reduce their carbon footprint by investing in emission reduction within their value chains. The verification focused on GHG reductions by Wallenius Wilhelmsen’s vehicle carrier, Morning Post. The vessel used B100 from sustainable sources at Antwerp-Bruges, resulting in a 90% CO2 equivalent reduction on a well-to-wake basis.Wallenius Wilhelmsen Expands Partnership with Major Equipment Manufacturer in $766M Green Supply Chain Deal
