VARD Holdings Limited, a major global designer and shipbuilder of offshore and specialized vessels, announced that it has secured a contract from an unidentified international customer for the design and construction of a 157-meter Diving Support and Construction vessel.
The new vessel will be of the VARD 3 06 design, developed by Vard Design in Ålesund, Norway, and will have a length of 157 meters, a beam of 27 meters and an accommodation capacity for 150 persons.
The vessel is scheduled for delivery from Vard Langsten in Norway in mid-2016. The hull of the vessel will be delivered from Vard Tulcea in Romania.
VARD (formerly known as STX OSV) is a majority-owned subsidiary of Italy’s Finacantieri S.p.A., currently the world’s fifth largest shipbuilding group, which purchased the yard from STX Europe from in January 2013.
VARD operates total ten shipbuilding facilities, including five in Norway, two in Romania, two in Brazil and one in Vietnam.
On December 30, VARD announced that it had secured an order from Harkand Group for the design and construction of a slightly smaller 121-meter DSCV for NOK 1 billion (about $162,000,000).
