Maersk Supply Service has been awarded a significant contract by Cenovus Energy to provide a Field Support Vessel for operations in the White Rose Field, located off the coast of Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada.

The custom-built vessel, set to be delivered in 2027, will be constructed by Crist S.A. in Gdynia, Poland based on a design from MMC Ship Design & Marine Consulting. Designed for harsh offshore conditions, the 110-meter vessel will feature DP3 dynamic positioning, ice-class certification, and accommodation for 164 personnel.

The contract aligns with Cenovus Energy’s broader plans for the White Rose field. In 2022, the company and its partners agreed to restart the West White Rose Project, which includes completing the West White Rose platform. The project is expected to yield its first oil in the first half of 2026, with production peaking at about 80,000 barrels per day by the end of 2029.

The announcement comes at a time of significant change for Maersk Supply Service. In July, Norwegian offshore supply shipping company DOF Group ASA revealed plans to acquire Maersk Supply Service from A.P. Moller – Maersk for approximately US $1.1 billion. The acquisition, which is expected to close in the fourth quarter of this year, follows Maersk’s strategic divestment of its energy-related businesses, including Maersk Supply Service, as part of its focus on transportation and integrated logistics.
