Trump’s First Trade Pact Offers Faint Glimpse on Art of the Deal
For global leaders puzzling over how to negotiate with Donald Trump, the US president’s inaugural pact with the UK offers a few clues on how much ground he’s prepared to give.
John McDonald has been elected as President of international classification society the American Bureau of Shipping, while remaining the Chief Operating Officer.
He joined ABS in 1996 as a surveyor and has held various roles, including Vice President of Occupational Health and Safety, Senior Vice President of Global Business Development, and Chief Operating Officer.
McDonald will also join the ABS Board of Directors.
“John McDonald has seized the opportunity to demonstrate his leadership skills since becoming Chief Operating Officer of ABS in 2021 and will now be given a further opportunity to showcase his strategic insight and leadership capabilities in the marine and offshore industries as he steps into the President’s position,” said Christopher Wiernicki, who will remain Chairman and CEO of ABS.
McDonald holds a bachelor’s degree in marine engineering from Maine Maritime Academy and an MBA from Texas A&M University.
