India’s largest non-state owned shipping firm, Great Eastern Shipping Company Ltd, announced plans today to expand their dry bulk fleet with an order to build three Kamsarmax dry bulk carriers.
The order was place with China’s Jiangsu Yangzijiang Shipbuilding Group and includes three 82,000 dwt “eco designed” bulkers. Great Eastern Shipping notes deliveries of the vessels will occur in mid-2016.
Great Eastern Shipping’s current fleet stands at 30 vessels, comprising 22 tankers (8 crude carriers, 13 product tankers, 1 LPG carrier) and 8 dry bulk carriers (1 Capesize, 3 Kamsarmax, 4 Supramax) with an average age of 9.0 years aggregating 2.42 million dwt. Three other vessels are on order consisting of an MR product tanker and two Kamsarmax dry bulk carriers.
