Port of Los Angeles Posts Strong March as Trade and Energy Risks Build

Hamburg-based containership owner, Leonhardt & Blumberg, announced this morning that their 23,416 dwt container ship “HANSA MARBURG” was attacked by criminal gangs about 130 nautical miles southwest of the Port of Malabo, Equatorial Guinea on April 22.
According to the company’s statement, four seafarers, including Ukrainian, Kiribati and Russian citizens were taken hostage. No injuries were reported among the remaining crew members who continued with the vessel to Senegal.
The shipowner is in contact with the families of those being held and those on board. All the appropriate authorities have been contacted, including the German police and Flag State.
No further details on the incident were released by Leonhardt & Blumberg.
