it brake,s my heart knowing that this wonderful ship is going to be come scrape.in 1962 my dad &4 of my sister.s arrived in N,Y.C from Italy. I have only but wonderful memories of my adventure…My Mother also come with the Independene in 1961.in fact I,m serching for a fellow who took care of me while on board he was wonderful wish I could find him just to say thank.s for making a five year old.s voyage to pleasent.Independence , you,ll alwas be loved.maybe by some hope you,ll be saved, and you & I can take the sea again GOD BLESS
