On July 19th, workers at Vigor Industrial’s drydock in Seattle successfully floated the Washington State Ferries’ newest vessel, the 144-car M/V Tokitae.

“It’s the first time the vessel has entered the water,” noted Vigor Industrial’s Brian Mannion in an emailed statement.

The ferry was moved in drydock to the launch location at pier 6, where the drydock was lowered and the ferry pulled out by tugs.

Vigor notes that the ferry will remain pier side for the next few months for painting, outfitting of passenger areas and system testing.  Delivery of the Tokitae is expected in early 2014.
