MV Mary Maersk, the third installment of Maersk Line’s massive Triple-E class, quietly commenced her maiden voyage this week from Busan, South Korea with about 400 hundred containers or so. It stinks being the youngest, doesn’t it?
The departure of the MV Mary Maersk comes on the heels of the first-in-class MV Mærsk McKinney-Møller in July, followed the MV Majestic Maersk on August 13. The fourth ship in the series, MV Marie Maersk, is expected to commence her maiden voyage sometime this month.
Maersk Line has ordered a total of twenty of the 400 meter-long, 18,000 TEU ships from Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering in Okpo, South Korea.
Here is a look at the previous two Triple-E’s also in Busan, South Korea during their respective maiden port calls.
