The Coral Chief is the lead ship of four that was ordered by China Navigation Company’s (CNCo) from Zheijiang Ouhua Shipyard in Chin. She and her sister multi-purpose vessels were designed by Neptun Ship Design and originally targeted for use on a liner trade between Townsville, Australia and Lae, Papua New Guinea. CNCOo says today she and a sister ship will soon add Shanghai to their liner service that will utilize two of these vessels.
CNCo says the Coral Chief features a number of energy efficiency and environmental enhancements including a ballast water treatment system, a rudder bulb installed aft of the propeller to enhance the propeller efficiency, a waste heat recovery system to help heat the fuel purifiers and vessel energy management systems to enhance navigational safety and minimize fuel consumption to name a few.
