At around 1740hrs tonight, fire broke out onboard the Purse Seiner Ocean Breeze while in dry-dock in Lyttelton, New Zealand. The trawler was under repair after being towed into port on August 9th by the tug Christine Mary.
Multiple fire appliances were called to fight the fire with many crews being called in from outlying areas to provide cover for the city of Christchurch and supply relief crews to the scene.
Fire Service communications centre shift manager Kal Patterson told the NZ Newswire, “We’ve got 12 fire engines and a ladder trying to deal with it.”
