Crown Prince Haakon of Norway visited the world-class arctic technology facilities at Aker Arctic in Helsinki, Finland this afternoon as part of a two-day trip where he is encouraging increased cooperation between the two nations within the arctic region.
Reports indicate that Finland may be announcing contracts soon for the design and building of the world’s first LNG-powered icebreaker, but in the mean time, Aker Arctic is busy on other designs such as this strange looking icebreaker, as well as a polar research vessel for China and a new Canadian icebreaker.
