Panama Canal authorities are trying to debunk the misconception that auction slots are a free pass to cut the line.

The Panama Canal on Friday officially celebrated the 100 year anniversary of its inauguration on August 15, 1914 with the transit of the SS Ancon.
It was on this day 100 years ago that the Canal first opened, linking the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans through an approximately 47-mile manmade route that forever changed global trade.
