Pirates operating off Nigeria’s oil-rich delta have released five Indian sailors held captive for over a month, the Associated Press has reported.
The five men were taken from their ship, the SP Bussells, on December 17 approximately 64km off the coast of Niger Delta. During the attack, the pirates ransacked the 7,600-tonne oil and chemical tanker before making off with the hostages.
A statement by the ship’s operator, Medallion Marine, says that the five men were in good health where released.
