One person is still missing after a Nigerian warship, NNS Thunder, collided with a Total-owned vessel on Nigeria’s Bonny River. According to local Nigerian news Oyibosonline, the incident happened at 3PM on Tuesday afternoon and the search for the missing Navy sailor continued into the night. Sources close to the emergency response teams are reporting that the Navy appears to have been at fault.
A Bourbon offshore supply vessel was first on-scene and secured the capsized Total vessel upon arrival.
We reached out to Total and Bourbon for comment this morning and both are now looking into the matter.
