Iraq Set for Key Oil Cargo Surge in Sign of Increased Output
Iraq will raise shipments of a key crude grade next month, part of an enlarged export program indicating that the OPEC+ nation is boosting its oil production.
Shipping’s central role within the global economy will come under the spotlight in a keynote speech delivered by Soren Toft, CEO of the Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), one of the world’s top ocean carriers, at London International Shipping Week, which kicks off today.
Raising the question of how world shipping is evolving to deliver world trade in a more consistent, smart and sustainable manner, Toft will discuss the current state of the market, question how we have reached this point, and consider what happens next for the global supply chain.
His comments are made from the perspective of overseeing MSC’s worldwide cargo operations in more than 150 countries and a fleet of some 600 ships, since he took the helm at the company last December.
Soren Toft is set to deliver his address during the high-level London International Shipping Week (LISW21) Conference, being held at the London headquarters of the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) on Wednesday, September 15. He joins other influential speakers including IMO Secretary General Kitack Lim; UK Government Minister of State for Business, Energy and Clean Growth, The Rt Hon Anne-Marie Trevelyan MP, who is the UK’s International Champion on Adaptation and Resilience for the COP26 Presidency; and the Lord Mayor of London, The Rt Hon William Russell.
LISW21 kicked off Monday and will continue through Friday. You can follow the event on Twitter @LISWOfficial or using hashtag #LISW21.
