Cheap Spot Rates Now Could Cost Shippers at Peak Season
Despite the continuing deterioration in rates, ocean shippers are being advised to avoid the spot market and stick to their allocation with carriers.
In an interview with CNN, Maersk Group CEO Nils Anderson discusses the ever-changing, and difficult world of global shipping and the newly evolving Chinese import trade which he comments as being, “the most dynamic trade development in the world.”
Mr. Anderson also comments on the 400-meter long, 18,000 TEU Triple-E container ship, the first of which is due in March, as well as the diversification of the group into the oil business, which is their most substantial activity outside of shipping.
