If you happen to notice a contact on your radar screen with speed leader stretching clear across your screen, it may not be an anomaly, but rather a Russian-made jet-powered seaplane/water bomber. Designed in the 1990s by Beriev Aviation Company, the concept hasn’t truly caught on like it might have 40 years ago, but if you want to put out a fire like a boss, buy one of these guys:

The following is a documentary covering the development of the Seamaster, the first jet-powered sea plane. It’s top speed was Mach 0.89.
