Have you received your Merchant Marine Expeditionary Medal for service on U.S.-flag vessels in direct support of American and allied military operations in Iraq?
May 22 is National Maritime Day. The Maritime Administration is looking for mariners who may have earned the Merchant Marine Expeditionary (MME) Medal (MME) through their service aboard U.S.-flag vessels in support of American and allied military operations. If you believe you have earned the MME medal, please gather your discharges, letters of service or other documentation and contact Mike Rodriguez at MM&P headquarters.
Those not in the Union can contact MARAD directly. If you have already been issued the medal but have lost it replacements can be purchased here.
More on Merchant Marine Medals:
The highest medal awarded to civilian mariners is the Distinguished Service Medal. This medal can be awarded by the President to any seaman who has distinguished himself during the war by outstanding conduct or service in the line of duty.
