The U.S. Navy reports a fire broke out on board the guided missile cruiser USS Hue City (CG 66).  The incident occurred late Monday as the ship was transiting across the Atlantic  on deployment to the U.S. 6th Fleet Area of Responsibility.  The ship had left Mayport, Florida on 11 April.

No personnel were injured however the ship is returning to Mayport in company with USS Gettysburg (CG 64) where a full damage assessment and investigation into the incident will continue.

An anonymous gCaptain source has told us the fire originated in the #1 gas turbine generator in main engine room one.
