Offshore wind farm support vessel owner Sure Wind has accepted delivery of the first of two Damen “Twin Axe Fast Crew Suppliers” ordered last September.

A Damen FCS 2610 design, the vessel is named “Sure Star” and will soon be bound for the Danish port town of Esbjerg, and subsequently deployed to the German market. Her sister vessel “Sure Swift” is expected to be delivered late next month according to Damen.

This vessel is Sure Wind’s 10th wind farm service and crew transfer vessel.

Andrew Bagshaw, Sure Wind Marine’s Operations Director commented in an emailed statement noting that the Damen FCS 2610 design is very popular among their clients and that it has “excellent seakeeping abilities.”

“We are very optimistic about prospects for the market, particularly in Germany and Denmark and France is also starting to get underway,” adds Bagshaw. “We certainly don’t exclude the possibility of other Damen FCS 2610 orders or other offshore vessels. We are really expecting this market to flourish.”

Damen notes that the FCS 2610 series of vessels are being built at Damen Shipyards Singapore, a facility that specializes in high-speed aluminum craft.

Arjen van Elk, Damen’s UK & Ireland Sales Manager notes high demand for these vessels and that the tally of vessels built will soon reach 40 over a 36 month period.
