While most of the United States is scouting the internet for holiday shopping deals many in New York City are still recovering from the ravages of Hurricane Sandy.
Directly in the path of the storm’s destruction were some of best maritime programs for youth starting careers at sea and we would like to help them recover.
Many of the schools, like the New York Harbor School, accept donations directly, but to kickstart the giving season we are offering copies of gCaptain’s own critically acclaimed book Fire on the Horizon for $9.99, a steep discount off the cover price of $27.99. The book makes a perfect holiday gift and profits will be donated to maritime youth training schools most affected by Sandy.
The prevention of future disasters starts with education and, while the New York schools need immediate help, gCaptain will continue to support maritime high schools across the globe including those based closest to the Deepwater Horizon tragedy like the New Orleans Military and Maritime Academy.
