A German containership has been damaged after being struck from behind by another cargo ship in the Kiel Canal.
The incident occurred Friday morning in the Brunsbüttel locks involving the Vera Rambow, which was hit in the stern by the general cargo ship Nordana Sky after both vessels had just transited the canal.
An AIS replay of the incident shows Vera Rambow enter the locks before the trailing Nordana Sky struck the vessel from behind after failing to stop.

Media reports say the Vera Rambow suffered severe damage to its stern. The vessel is currently moored at the port of Hamburg.
The so-called “ecobox” Nordana Sky was only recently delivered to its owners Symphony Shipping in March 2015 following its completion at Ferus Smit. The Nordana Sky also sustained damage in the collision, reports say.
