COSCO Corporation announced today that their subsidiary, COSCO (Dalian) Shipyard Co. Ltd, secured a RMB500 million (USD $81 million) contract today from an undisclosed Chinese ship owner to build a 28,000 CBM LNG carrier.
The vessel is scheduled for delivery in the first quarter of 2015.
Although the owner wasn’t mentioned in COSCO’s statement, reports indicate the owner is likely CNOOC Energy and Technology Services, however we were unable to independently confirm.
