Bremerhaven police have confirmed the death this morning of a 52 year old crane operator who was loading and unloading containers on Wednesday night from the Maersk Kerachi when one of the structural members of his crane failed. The crane operator’s gondola then fell to the bottom of the ship’s hold.
An investigation into the incident is currently underway and a floating crane has been brought in to support the salvage of the crane pieces and damaged containers from the Maersk Kerachi.
