Shipping line Ocean Network Express (ONE) is claiming a new world record with the loading of 22,000 twenty-foot equivalent (TEU) laden containers on board a single ship.
The record was set by the containership ONE Innovation during a port call in Singapore on December 14.
The record surpasses the previous record set by another ONE ship at the Port of Singapore in November. In that instance, a total of 21,954 laden TEUS were loaded onto the ONE Integrity, as reported by ONE.
ONE Innovation and ONE Integrity are among six “megamax” class ships with a capacity of 24,000 TEUs.
Ocean Network Express was formed in 2017 through the integration of the liner businesses of Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha (“K” LINE), Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL), and Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK). The company currently ranks as the world’s sixth-largest container carrier with a fleet of over 225 ships representing approximately 1.69 million TEU. ONE is a member of THE Alliance (THEA), a global ocean carrier consortium.
