India Seeks $1.1 Billion Reparation After MSC Fuel Spill in May
The southern Indian state of Kerala has sued MSC Mediterranean Shipping Co. for the environmental damages caused by a ship capsizing off its coast, according to a court document.
Salvors have removed a total of 566 containers from Rena by Svitzer, and a further 72 have been recovered from the shore or sea by Braemar Howells container recovery teams, bringing the total number of containers now processed ashore to 638.
The container recovery is nearly complete, however due to a nasty storm rolling in tonight over New Zealand’s North Island, the salvage operation has been put on hold. Forecasters expect winds up to 50 knots and 5 meter seas in the vicinity of Astrolabe Reef.
