Incident Video: VLOC ‘China Steel Innovator’ Slams Into Berthed Ship in Taiwan

Check out this incident video which has gone viral this week showing the giant bulk carrier China Steel Innovator hitting the stern of a containership berthed at the Port of Kaohsiung in southwestern Taiwan.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, June 19, as the 200,000 dwt China Steel Innovator was arriving in port.

The video shows the bulk carrier dropped both of its anchors as a tugboat also attempted to stop the vessel, but it just wasn’t enough and the massive bulker slammed into the stern of the containership.

The containership in the video is the Panama-flagged M/V Ever Laden.

Both vessels obviously suffered some pretty major damage from the accident.

China Steel Innovator is 299.7 meters long and has a beam of 50 meters.

According to reports, the China Steel Innovator is being held in port as the incident is investigated.
