Captain Jes Meinertz, Master of Maersk Line’s first Triple-E and the world’s largest ship, MV Maersk Mc-Kinney Moller, brings us images today of the propulsion plant on board his enormous vessel.
His ship is powered by a pair of of 8-cylinder MAN-B&W 8S80ME-C 9.2 engines which provide a combined propulsion power of 59,360 kW and allow the vessel to sail at up to 23 knots while operating at a highly efficient power profile.

These engines have an 80 centimeter piston diameter, a super long stroke, and an electronically-controlled combustion process.
