Symphony Provider is launched at the Feris-Smit Shipyard in Leer, Germany, March 9, 2017.
On Thursday March 9 the Ferus Smit Shipyard in Leer, Germany launched the Symphony Provider, the second in a series of two ECOBOX DP2 vessels that will be delivered to Symphony Shipping.
Unfortunately the initial launch didn’t quite to plan. As you can see in the video below during the launch the bow of the vessel became stuck even as the stern slid down the slipway, eventually stopping the vessel about mid-launch. Check it out:
Watching the video it appears as though the hydraulic pins holding the bow malfunctioned. Thankfully it looks like they were able to be release the hydraulics manually and launched into the water. Ferus-Smit did not address the malfunction in a press release about the launch.
