If you have seen Shark Week, you know that the waters off of South Africa – home to the infamous ‘shark alley’ – are some of the most dangerous in the world to swim in. But shark attacks on swimmers and surfers near shore are surprisingly rare.
Unfortunately statistics didn’t matter for three-time world surfing champion Mick Fanning, who on Sunday found himself Sunday face-to-face with a massive great white as he competed in a pro surfing competition at Jeffreys Bay that was being televised live. Just check out the incredible video below:
