Some incredible video showing a ship battling high winds as it approaches Durban, South Africa. The video was published recently to Youtube with no information attached. Update: Below is the story from the Transnet Port Authority, which posted the original video to its YouTube page in March. Apparently the wind was blowing between 30 to 40 knots on the day the video was recorded.
The cyclonic weather conditions which battered the Durban beachfront on Sunday, 12 March 2017 did not stop the Port of Durban’s marine pilot Rainer Rauntenberg from safely steering an automotive vessel into the port. Rauntenberg, who has been a marine pilot for more than 14 years, successfully steered the vessel under adverse weather conditions believed to be caused by a tropical cyclone Enawo – which struck Madagascar.
