M/V Island Dawn was delivered from Vard Brevik on 21 January 2014
Norwegian ship owner Island Offshore and Aberdeen-based Fletcher Shipping have just signed contracts with Rolls-Royce for a total of four new offshore supply vessels of the UT 717 CDX and UT 755 LC design, respectively.
For Island Offshore, these two vessels mark the 5th and 6th newbuilds ordered from shipyard VARD Brevik of the same design in recent years. Deliveries are expected in 2015.
In 2011 and 2012 Island Offshore placed orders for four vessels of the same UT 717 CDX design, three of which have already been delivered, the most recent delivery being Island Dawn.
For Fletcher Shipping, Norwegian shipyard Simek will build a pair of Rolls-Royce UT 755 LC platform supply vessels.
Rolls-Royce notes this series of PSV “is among the most proven and successful UT designs ever, with more than 188 vessels built or under construction.”
Vessel deliveries are planned for November 2014 and April 2015.
John Knudsen, Rolls-Royce, President Offshore, said: “Simek and Rolls-Royce have been working together for a number of years and these vessels represent the yard’s 25th and 26th UT design build. Fletcher’s fleet of vessels, which will increase to six with this order, consists solely of UT-designs.”
