
A Turkish ro-pax ferry has been refloated after running aground Sunday off the west coast of Turkey in the Aegean Sea.
As gCaptain reported, the ferry Gokceada-1 ran aground Sunday evening outside the harbor breakwater on the island of Gokceada. All 188 passengers were eventually taken off the vessel Monday morning after about 15 hours stuck on the grounded ship.

The Turkish Directorate General of Coastal Safety reports that the vessel was refloated Tuesday afternoon with the help of tugs. All 39 vehicles and eleven crewmembers remain aboard the vessel, the organization reported.
No pollution and no injuries have been reported as a result of the incident.
The cause of grounding is under investigation.
