DUBAI (Zawya Dow Jones)–The MV Jubba XX, an oil tanker owned by and flagged to the United Arab Emirates, was released by pirates Wednesday, the U.A.E.’s state news agency WAM said Thursday.
The MV Jubba XX and its 17 crew were seized on July 16, while carrying 3,500 metric tons of oil products from Umm Al Quwain port in the Gulf Arab state. No payments or concessions were made to the pirates, who took the vessel off the coast of Yemen and forced it to sail towards Somalia, said WAM.
The news agency added that the tanker is owned by Sharjah-based Jubba General Trading Co. Its crew are from Sri Lanka, India, Bangladesh, Sudan, Myanmar, Kenya and Somalia, it said.
