Today the Staten Island Ferry had an incident. The New York Times tells us:
A Staten Island Ferry crashed into the dock just past 9 a.m. on Saturday morning, as it was coming into the St. George terminal, and emergency crews were responding after 65 people were injured at the scene, police, fire and United States Coast Guard officials said.
There were no fatalities reported among the 252 passengers, said Charles Rowe, a spokesman for the Coast Guard in Staten Island, and of the approximately 65 people who were injured, he said between three and five people were injured seriously.
Officer Rowe said that they had “neck or back injuries, consistent with a collision.”
According to Officer Rowe and Paul J. Browne, a New York Police Department spokesman, the crash was an accident and occurred when the ferry’s engines appeared to malfunction. Continue Reading…
