Some scary new video shows the man overboard incident on board the U.S. Navy hospital ship USNS Comfort.
As we reported yesterday, nineteen personnel fell overboard during the transfer from a small boat to the USNS Comfort (T-AH 20) off the coast of Haiti on Monday. Two sustained minor injuries in the incident.
The personnel involved were returning to Comfort from Wharf de Jeremie where they were providing medical care during a Continuing Promise 2022 mission stop.
Not many details about the incident were available until now. As you can from the video, one of the Comfort’s utility boat was being lifted onto the hospital ship when the boat suddenly rolled over, sending two people into the water a good 20 feet below. Check out the videos below:
The Navy’s statement yesterday said Comfort has paused ship-to-shore operations in Haiti until “a safe alternative for personnel transfer has been identified.”
