“I don’t think people can totally appreciate how remote this place is,” commented Team Vestas’ shore manager Neil Cox. Nine of his teammates are marooned on a remote island in the Indian Ocean after running hard aground last weekend.
The “Coast Guard” station on the island of Íle du Sud is literally the size of a tool shed in someone’s backyard, Cox describes, and it’s manned by two people.
