Greek shipowner, George Economou, has placed an order for four LNG carriers worth $848 million from Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co., South Korea’s No. 2 shipbuilder, Yonhap News reports.
The vessels are scheduled to be delivered by 2014 and the contract includes an option for two addition LNG ships.
The vessels will each carry a dual-fuel-diesel-electric engine that enables them to switch from diesel to LNG, the news agency reported the company as saying.
In June, Daewoo Shipbuilding won a contract with another Greek company, Angelicoussis Group, to build two LNG vessels.
