The future USS Little Rock (LCS 9) was launched into the Menominee River in Marinette, Wisconsin on Saturday, July 19, 2015, after a christening ceremony at the Marinette Marine Corporation shipyard.
The ship is one of five Freedom-variant Littoral Combat Ships (LCS) currently being built by Lockheed Martin at the Marinette Marine shipyard for the U.S. Navy. The Navy also has another three ships that are in the pre-production phase, while two earlier ships, USS Freedom (LCS 1) the USS Fort Worth (LCS 3), have already been delivered.
The ship is the ninth Littoral Combat Ship overall.

Janee Bonner, the ship’s sponsor, breaks a bottle across the ship’s bow during the christening ceremony.
