Reuters’ photographer Amit Dave has published a series of photos taken just this week at a shipbreaking yard in Alang, India, where many of the world’s ships continue to be...

Royal IHC has named and launched the pipelaying vessel Sapura Rub at the company’s shipyard in Krimpen aan den Ijssel, the Netherlands.
Sapura Rub is the last of five 550t-Type pipelaying vessels that IHC is supplying to the Brazilian company Sapura Navegação Marítima, which is a joint venture between Sapura Kencana and Seadrill.
According to IHC, Sapura Rub will be equipped with a custom IHC-designed and built pipelaying spread and two below-deck storage carousels with capacity for 2,500 ton and 1,500 ton of product respectively. A vertical lay system with a 550 ton top tension capacity will be permanently installed for the deployment of a range of flexible products, and the tower orientation allows for maximum deck space.
Like the first four vessels, Sapura Rub is destined for Brazilian waters where it will develop oil fields in waters up to 2,500 meters deep for Petrobras.
