The International Dynamic Positioning Operators Association (IDPOA) is inviting mariners from across the world to nominate their shining stars of the Dynamic Positioning sector in the first annual International Dynamic Positioning Excellence Awards.
Nominations can be made via the website www.dpoperators.org/awards up until 31st March. Once all the nominations have been verified, an online voting facility will open in early April until 4th May.
The IDPOA is organization in which we fully support here at gCaptain.com and we’d love to see a few gCaptain members nominated for awards…

Here you are, fresh out of the academy with your watch keeping ticket, & you are looking to get the additional DP endorsement. Or perhaps you have been at sea for 20 years & feel its time to try something new. Or maybe you can just see which way the wind is blowing.
As positioning capabilities have been improved to the point where a vessel can now sit on a (virtual) dime, the focus now shifts towards refinement. Making vessels more efficient is not only the right thing to do for the environment, it also makes good business sense. As legislation continually moves towards stricter emission controls, companies that are taking the initiative now will remain ahead of the curve, staying competitive in the process.
