USTR Moves to Suspend Port Fees Targeting China

Following up on their letter of intention this month, Prosafe has finalized contracts with COSCO (Qidong) Offshore Co. for the engineering, procurement and construction of two Gusto MSC Ocean 500 designed semi-submersible accommodation vessels, plus options for an additional four units. Total cost for each unit is in excess of USD $200 million.
These vessels will sleep 500, are DP3-equipped, and include a 10-point chain mooring system and 300 ton capacity cranes. Once delivered these vessels will be available for charter worldwide, with the exception of offshore Norway according to Prosafe.
Prosafe notes the vessels will be named Safe Notos and Safe Eurus, joining Prosafe’s other newbuilds Safe Boreas and Safe Zephyrus, all named after the gods of wind in Greek mythology.
