The U.S. Coast Guard is searching for a man who fell overboard from Royal Caribbean’s Oasis of the Seas Friday morning approximately 80 nautical miles northeast of Mayaguana, Bahamas.
A shocking video posted online (the video has since been removed from Youtube) shows the moment the man fell into the water while the ship was underway. The video, which is disturbing, was filmed by a passenger a higher deck and show’s the man clinging to a lifeboat before he loses his grip and goes plunging into the water below as passengers and crew members watch on in horror.
The incident occurred Friday morning at approximately 1 a.m. Some reports say that the man, a 35-year-old passenger from Brazil, intentionally climbed over the railing and onto the lifeboat davit.
The cruise ship launched two small boats to begin searching for the man who was last seen wearing a pink shirt and white shorts, the Coast Guard said.
According to the website CruiseJunkie.com, there have been 22 man overboard incidents on cruise ships in 2015.
The video can still be seen HERE.
