PRESS RELEASE — Ocean Signal, UK manufacturer of communications and safety at sea equipment, has appointed MS Service, based in St Petersburg, as its Russian distributor. The announcement follows the Ocean Signal range of SafeSea® products gaining full Type Approval for use on Russian vessels.

The SafeSea EPIRB’s E100 and E100G with inbuilt GPS both gained approval of the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping for use on sea going vessels, as did the V100 hand held VHF and S100 SART (Search and Rescue Transponder) together with use on rescue craft.

Victor Kartashov, owner of MS Service commented, “EPIRB’s and SARTS are now a highly important part of a vessel’s inventory in Russia. As soon as we saw the high quality of manufacture and the innovative engineering that has provided Ocean Signal safety products with significantly longer battery life when deployed, we were keen to include them in our range. With full Russian Type Approval we are confident that they will quickly become a valuable enhancement to safety at sea aboard Russian vessels.”

MS Service has a long standing relationship with the Russian commercial shipping and fishing fleets and will provide an important footing in the large Russian market for Ocean Signal. MS Service will also handle the fast growing Russian leisure market for high quality safety products.

Ocean Signal’s Managing Director Alan Wrigley, commented, “We have been working with the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping for some time to achieve Type Approval in this important market for us and are delighted this has coincided with our appointment of Victor Kartashov and his team who will represent us in Russia.”
